Demand for Execution of LGBT Activist and Atheist Bloggers

Countries Biggest Islamist party Hifazat-e-Islam has organised another protest rally against a number of Bloggers and writers in Kishoreganj near the counties capital Dhaka.

Following the protest of yesterday in Dhaka, the protestants had managed to gather another crowed; adding furthermore wall graffiti and list of bloggers to their banners. After the filing of the case of 16th February 2020 against a magazine called Atheist Note and its contributors, the religious group has taken multiple measures to prevent the magazine’s spread. The case was filed under the Digital Security Act-2018 at the Cyber Tribunal in Dhaka. As the content spread via the magazine and shared on multiple online platforms, the immense reaction has been observed by the pro-Islamic parties of the country. They have demanded that these preposterous comments on Prophet Muhammed, God, and religion is an extreme mockery towards Islam and should be banished immediately.

the only exemplary punishment would be death by hanging. One of the activists from Hefazat e Islam Bangladesh has expressed his opinion by saying “these preposterous contents are absolutely intolerable in the eyes of Islam. We will never bear such horrendous comments against our leader or religion.”

Posters and graffiti were drawn against Biplob Paul, Mohammed Ashraful Islam, SM Mamun Talukther, Sraboni Sikder, Sujan Chandra Dev, Muhammad Jillur Rahman, Quazi Wahiduzzaman, and including the co-ordinator of the magazine Muhaiminul Biswas Parvez as well as many other prominent atheist writers and LGBT activists demanding their execution.

Hridoy Kazi; the main complainant of the lawsuit and an eminent organiser of the protest has vigorously expressed his opinion about the bloggers. In his words, “We want these perverts and culprits to be hanged for their crimes. They mocked our honorable leader, our beloved prophet and all mighty Allah; for which they only belong in the pit of the hell”

Upon requesting for an interview with Monirujjama Khan who is the committee leader of the investigation team; (magazine name) has been failed to get any comment on the matter.
